Don’t forget to turn the clocks back one hour this weekend. Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 6. Before falling back and getting an extra hour of sleep, pack some of these events into the weekend while up in the far northeast part of Albuquerque:
1. First Friday Book Group at Cherry Hills Library will discuss “Elegance of the Hedgehog” by Muriel Barbery. The group meets the first Friday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Cherry Hills Library Children’s Room. The club is open to the public. 3. Head over to Albuquerque Academy on Friday, Nov. 4, as the Chargers take on Bernalillo in the first round of the 4A 2022 Nusenda Credit Union State Football Championships. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. Tickets cost $5 for students, military and seniors and $10 for adults. Tickets can be purchased on the GoFan website.
4. Cheer on the New Mexico Ice Wolves as they take on the Shreveport Mudbugs Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Outpost Ice Arena. The game starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets range in price from $12.50 to $27.50 and can be purchased on the New Mexico Ice Wolves website. The Ice Wolves are No. 2 in the South Division with nine wins and two losses this season. Their next home game is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 18.

5. Watch the Western Sky Community Care State Cross Country Championships at Albuquerque Academy Saturday, Nov. 5. Races start at 9 a.m. with the 5A girls and end after the 3:15 p.m. 3A boys race is finished. Award ceremonies will take place after each race. Tickets can be purchased on the GoFan website and cost $5 for students, military and seniors and $10 for adults.
6. Enjoy Saturday Afternoon Knitting & Crocheting with the ABQ Twisted Stitchers Meetup group at Panera Bread, 6500 Holly Ave. NE. The knitting action starts at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, and ends at 4:30 p.m. The group meets every week on Saturday. For more information, visit the Twisted Stitchers Meetup webpage.
7. Help raise money for the Animal Humane Society and find forever homes for dogs and cats at the Doggie Dash & Dawdle 2022 at Balloon Fiesta Park. Registration for the 5K Dash with or without a canine companion is $40. Citywide events
8. Food Truck Fridays have been extended through the next two months (with the exception of holidays). So instead of packing a lunch, head over to Civic Plaza from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday to support local food trucks and vendors. Additional dates of the popular program’s extension are Nov. 18, Dec. 2, Dec. 9 and Dec. 16. For more information and updates, visit cabq.gov/fridays.
9. In honor of Native American Heritage Month, the Indigenous Life Celebration & Powwow will run all day Saturday at the Albuquerque Convention Center. The day’s activities will promote traditional wellness and cultural ways of life for Native children, teens and families. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., join the Gratitude Walk/Run, Indigenous games, Indigenous dances, land-based learning and cultural enrichment activities. At 1 p.m., enjoy the feast day meal, and from 4-10 p.m. check out the youth powwow. Marketplace vendors will also be available from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
10. Halloween may be over, but Frankenstein is still coming to town. The University of New Mexico Department of Theatre and Dance present “Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein,” adapted by Gregory Moss, Friday, Saturday and Sunday as well as Nov. 11-13 at the UNM Rodeo Theatre. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. The iconic monster is given a new life in this new adaptation of the classic story as it holds up a mirror to the monsters that are in all of us. Tickets are currently on sale.
