The Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education is trying a new way to approach community engagement at its Community Conversations with the APS community.
The APS BOE says it’s committed to a new way of doing business and feels the first step is holding these convos at high schools throughout the city.
The board plans to find out what people hope for students to know or be able to do throughout their educational career, and what APS should not continue to do on the path to improving student outcomes.
“Student outcomes don’t change until adult behaviors change. The APS Board of Education, like a growing number of school boards across the nation, understands that change starts here. This is why we are committed to improving the way we interact with you—the community. Please join us for a series of community conversations as we envision, together, what is possible for students in Albuquerque Public Schools,” the BOE said via a statement on the APS website.
Light refreshments will be served, and interpretation services will be available. The conversation at Eldorado High School runs 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at the EHS campus media center.
