With the recent authorization of a booster vaccination for kids ages 5-11, the New Mexico Department of Health is hosting a student COVID-19 vaccination clinic June 1.
In addition to the Pfizer booster that was recently authorized by the FDA, first and second COVID vaccine doses will also be available. The booster dose is available to children five months after completing the primary two-shot series.
Hours for the clinic are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Berna Facio Professional Development Complex, 3315 Louisiana Blvd. NE. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are acceptable. To make an appointment, click here.
COVID testing
Albuquerque Public Schools is wrapping up COVID testing at the Berna Facio site June 2, but testing will remain open at three district stadiums.
• Drive-thru testing at Milne Stadium, 1200 Hazeldine Ave. SE, is available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday or until they run out of tests. The site offers free rapid tests and PCR tests administered by Net Medical Labs. No appointment is required, but for quicker results, online forms can be filled out in advance. Bring a government-issued ID and insurance card, if insured, to the testing site. Wait times are longer than normal due to high demand.
• Wilson Stadium, 12200 Lomas Blvd. NE, is another site for drive-thru testing with hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or until they run out of tests, seven days a week. Access is from Chelwood Blvd. only; do not enter through the main gate or Manzano High School. The site offers free rapid tests and PCR tests administered by Net Medical Labs. No appointment is required, but for quicker results, online forms can be filled out in advance. Bring a government-issued ID and insurance card, if insured, to the testing site. Wait times are longer than normal due to high demand.
• Testing at Nusenda Community Stadium, 1601 Arroyo Vista Blvd. NW, runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Appointments are required at this site and can be made by clicking here. The self-collected test with shallow nasal swabs is administered by Curative.
Additionally, at-home tests are offered by both Bernalillo County and the city of Albuquerque. Each at-home test kit from the county contains two rapid tests, and each household is allotted two test kits. For test kit distribution locations and times, click here.
