The city of Albuquerque’s Department of Arts & Culture is creating an activity book to tell Albuquerque’s told and untold stories of places, people and events past and present from varied voices and viewpoints. Creatives are invited to submit black-and-white line drawings, art and educational activities, graphic stories and short written work for the forthcoming activity book.
The book will be for children ages 4-10, and submissions should be inclusive to all people, be suited to all audiences and have an Albuquerque theme.
Stories and drawings could portray historical events or people, cultural tradition, arts, food, weather, architecture, government or social fabric of Albuquerque.
Written work should be no more than 500 words, and could be in the form of fiction, poetry, memoir, graphic stories or nonfiction prose. Drawings should be black-and-white line drawings that can be filled in with color. Activities are encouraged; think of ways a student might interact with the activity book and feel free to incorporate games, puzzles, riddles, drawing activities or other creative instructions.
All selected contributors will receive a payment for their work and a copy of the finished book. Deadline for submissions is Oct. 14. To submit content, click the link here.
