Fresh off of hosting its first private event last month, Whiptail will be holding a Whiskey Dinner on Oct. 25.
The four-course meal will be $125 per person with whiskey parings for each course.
Owner Chastity Bustos, who opened Whiptail in December, has set up her restaurant so mixologists and cooks can think outside the box and have input on the menu.
“Most places, their high end is where we kind of start and that’s our house,” Bustos said. “And it’s just because there’s some great stuff out there and really it’s price tags or the unknown that scares people. So we like to have an alternative to really anything that you want. So if you are looking for Crown we have something for it, but it’s not a crown, but it’s just as good if not better.”
The menu for the Whiskey Dinner will be:
- Bacon-wrapped dates with charred Brie paired with an Oak & Eden rye Manhattan.
- Autumn succotash with cauliflower puree paired with a Clyde Mays traditional whiskey sour.
- Wagyu short rib with white cheddar polenta paired with Maker’s 46 old fashioned.
- Smoked cheesecake with maple bacon and bourbon caramel paired with a Grace O’Malley’s Espresso martini.
Bustos said even people who aren’t big fans of whiskey will enjoy their drinks.
“We don’t sweeten our drinks to cover the taste of the alcohol,” Bustos said. “I want people to be able to enjoy and sip on their Old Fashioned and not have to choke it down.”
The event, which follows Whiptail’s Wine Dinner in September, runs from 6:30-9:30 p.m. To RSVP for the event, call 505-859-7410.
