Early voting for the New Mexico 2022 general election begins Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Bernalillo County Clerks Office. Voters can vote in person through absentee or hand-deliver a completed absentee ballot at the Clerks Annex beginning Oct. 11. Early voting at other polling locations around Albuquerque begins Saturday, Oct. 22, and ends Saturday, Nov. 5. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8.
To register to vote or update voter registration information, visit portal.sos.state.nm.us. New Mexico residents can change their address and party affiliation using the online voter registration portal. Voters have six options when choosing political party affiliation, including Democratic Party of New Mexico, Republican Party of New Mexico, Libertarian Party of New Mexico, Working Families Party, Green Party of New Mexico, or No Party/Decline to State/Independent. Voters can also register to vote or change their party affiliation at the county clerk’s office and most early voting locations the same day voting takes place.
Absentee ballots can be requested online at the New Mexico Secretary of State’s website. Absentee ballot applications must be received by the county clerk no later than Nov. 3, 2022. If sending the absentee ballot back by mail, they must arrive at the county clerk’s office no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day to be counted.
Candidates include those running for U.S. House Representative District 1, governor, secretary of state, attorney general, state auditor, state treasurer, state representatives, public lands commissioner, justice of the supreme court, district and metropolitan court judges, county sheriff, and county commissioner. Several bond questions and three constitutional amendments are on this year’s ballot as well. The sample ballot below will be different for each voter depending on what districts they live in.
