Both Albuquerque Academy and La Cueva High School esports teams advanced to the semifinals of the NMAA State Esports Championships.

Albuquerque Academy will play Portales online at 4 p.m. April 20 in the Class 4A Rocket League matchup to see who advances to the finals. In the Class 4A League of Legends semifinal, Albuquerque Academy will take on Miyamura in an online match at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 19.

La Cueva high school takes on Las Cruces at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, in the Class 5A League of Legends semifinals. At 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, La Cueva takes on Rio Rancho in the Rocket League semifinal match.

Finals will take place in person at the APS Berna Facio Professional Development Center April 22-23. Spectators are welcome; masks are recommended but not required. The New Mexico Athletics Association requests social distancing be practiced “to the greatest extent possible.” Admission to the championship finals is free.
