Albuquerque Academy’s varsity girls soccer team wasn’t able to match La Cueva’s 10-goal shutout against Valley, but Wednesday’s match against Manzano was still a goal fest. The Chargers slid past the Monarchs for a 10-1 win during their second Metro Championships game at the APS Soccer Complex.

Academy senior Anna Babinski scored a hat trick and junior Piper Wiese scored two goals for the Chargers. Sophomores Maile Maldonado, Layla Logan, Reily Cates and freshmen A. Spratley and Isabella Barnes all scored a goal each. Senior goalkeeper Lily Spoerke made four saves and had one goal against, according to MaxPreps.

The Lady Chargers play Cleveland High School in their next metro matchup Friday, Aug. 26, on Field 1 of the APS Soccer Complex. That game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Albuquerque Academy’s boys varsity soccer team takes on Manzano at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, on Field 4 of the APS Soccer Complex.
