Albuquerque Academy took the top spot in the state for the 2021-22 MaxPreps Cup, scoring 1,389 points. Georgia was the top state, with 10 schools receiving 1,000 points or more.

The MaxPreps Cup uses a formula to determine the best overall high school sports program in the nation, with points awarded on a weighted basis. Larger states and schools and more popular sports receive more points than smaller states and schools and less popular sports due to more competition.

Academy received the most points in New Mexico for the following sports:
Fall state champions: Boys soccer
Fall state runners-up: Boys cross-country, girls cross-country
Winter state champions: Girls swimming
Spring state champions: Boys golf, boys tennis, girls golf, girls tennis
Spring state runners-up: Girls track, boys track

The other top schools in the state for 2021-22 were:

Robertson: 838
La Cueva: 823
Los Alamos: 756
Volcano Vista: 704
Rio Rancho: 569
Cleveland: 523
Carlsbad: 495
Lovington: 485
