Albuquerque Academy’s boys and girls cross-country teams won second place in the 4A 2022 Western Sky Community Care State Cross Country Championships on Saturday.

The boys finished with a total time of 1:26:14.01 and an average team time of 17:14.81 in the 5K run. First-place Los Alamos had a total time of 1:23:58.35 and an average team time of 16:47.67.

Charger Nate Klein placed sixth in the race with a time of 16:43.35, Alex Goss came in 14th with a time of 17:10.01 and Akalin Sankaran finished 19th with a time of 17:24.20. Rendon Kuykendall of Hope Christian came in first in the boys 4A race with a time of 15:29.20, or about 4.9 minutes per mile. Five kilometers is equivalent to 3.10686 miles.

The Lady Chargers had a total time of 1:38:00.25 and an average team time of 19:36.05 in the 5K race. Los Alamos took home the state title in the girls 4A competition with a total time of 1:36:57.04 and an average team time of 19:23.41.

Academy’s Anna Hastings finished second with a time of 18:48.26, Addison Julian took fourth with a time of 19:08.12 and Katie Patton placed fifth with a time of 19:09.12. Emma Montoya of Los Alamos came in first with a time of 18:19.60, or about 5.8 minutes per mile.
