The final list of 2022 National Merit Scholarship winners is in, and two are from schools in the Northeast Heights.

Nicholas Mohoric of Albuquerque Academy won the National Merit University of New Mexico Scholarship, with a probable career field in architecture. Henri Li of La Cueva won the National Merit Florida State University Scholarship, with a probable career field in biochemistry.

Winners of the college-sponsored award will receive $500 to $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship. More than 3,800 Merit Scholarship winners are being sponsored by 155 colleges and universities this year. The July 11 list of college-sponsored winners includes five students from Albuquerque and one from Las Cruces.

Approximately $28 million worth of scholarships were awarded to more than 7,200 National Merit Scholarship winners nationwide. In addition to the college-sponsored awards, there were also 2,500 National Merit $2,500 Scholarships and 1,000 corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarships.
