Albuquerque Public Schools Police were called to investigate an individual who texted threats to harm students at Madison Middle School Thursday evening.
A Nov. 4 email from Principal Tammy Crespin says the threat was determined to not be viable. The following is the message from Crespin in its entirety:

Dear Madison Families,
I am writing to let you know a student sent threatening statements to harm students at Madison via text last night. We were informed of the situation this morning. We immediately called APS police and the student’s family to investigate. In the end, it was determined the threat was not viable. At no time was there a weapon or other means to hurt any student on our campus by this student.
We take all threats seriously and appreciate when anyone reports threats like this to us. As a school community, we all have a role to play in ensuring our school remains a safe place for learning. Remember, if you see or hear something, please report it immediately. We encourage parents, students, and staff to report threatening behavior of any kind to APS Police at (505) 243-7712, so they may investigate.
