APS Superintendent Scott Elder was inducted into the Anderson Hall of Fame at UNM earlier this month.

Albuquerque Public Schools Superintendent Scott Elder was inducted into the Anderson School of Management Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the University of New Mexico business school on Nov. 8.

Elder completed his MBA from Anderson in 2017. He also holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science and Spanish as well as a master of secondary education degree from UNM.

“I am honored and humbled to be inducted into the Anderson Hall of Fame,” Elder said. “I am a proud Lobo alum who appreciates the opportunities and experiences my UNM education has provided. I am grateful for all those who supported me through this journey, especially my family, friends, coworkers and the APS Board of Education.”

Elder was named APS superintendent in 2020. He was the APS Chief Operations Officer prior to that. Elder has worked for APS since 1991, when he began his career teaching English as a Second Language at Highland High School. He went on to serve as principal at McKinley Middle School, Career Enrichment Center and Early College Academy, Highland High School and Sandia High School before moving to the district office.
