Maurice Lacey is facing several charges related to a Friday shooting at a Walmart location.
He is accused of entering the break room of the Walmart Neighborhood Market located at 4700 Cutler Ave. NE and shooting his wife, Kenisha Renee Wilson, in the back of the head, according to a press release from the Albuquerque Police Department.
Witnesses said Lacey entered the break room without Wilson noticing and shot her. Another employee said she heard the gunshot and saw Lacey standing over Wilson while pointing the gun at her head. The witness said Lacey stated, “That’s what she gets for messing around.” Lacey then threatened the witness before leaving the break room.
After the shooting, the release continues, Lacey took the firearm and placed it on a counter in front of an employee, and said, “I just shot my wife, Renee.”
Lacey is charged with aggravated battery of a household member (domestic violence), firearm enhancement, and assault with intent to commit a violent felony. Wilson’s status has been upgraded from critical to stable.
