The New Mexico State Canvassing Board ordered automatic recounts in two races after certifying the official results of the 2022 General Election on Tuesday. The will be recounts in House District 32, in southwest New Mexico, and House District 68, in northwest Albuquerque. The board will meet again to certify the results of those recounted races at 3 p.m. Dec. 13. In District 68, Charlotte Little had a 36-vote lead over Robert Henry Moss with 11,264 votes cast. State law requires an automatic recount if the margin of victory is less than 1% of the total votes cast. Little…

One of the largest petroglyph sites in North America is on Albuquerque’s west side. Petroglyph National Monument, located off Unser Boulevard NW on Western Trail Road, stretches 17 miles. The monument offers several cultural and natural resources, including five volcanic cones. Visitors can see images carved by Ancestral Pueblo peoples and Spanish settlers. There are five main sites at the monument: Boca Negra Canyon, Rinconada Canyon, Piedras Marcadas Canyon and the Volcano Day Use trails. Albuquerque Police Department detectives arrested a man who is suspected of shooting a man in the chest last week. The man, Johnathan Martinez, was arrested Tuesday after a lengthy search in Northeast Albuquerque. Martinez, 39, was tracked by detectives to a residence near Adams Street and Candelaria Road. He was identified as a suspect in a shooting on Nov. 23 at 7303 Montgomery Blvd., where a male victim was critically wounded after being shot in the chest.
