It can be tough for pet owners going through hard times, and the Animal Welfare Department wants to help those owners and pets in need with their “We Care” mobile Community Pet Services Unit. The Cleaning Lady is doing an open casting call for its second season. Bill Marinella Casting specifically hopes to get background actors who are of Asian, Pacific Island or Filipino decent, but all are encouraged to apply. The show is casting for days as early as Sept. 27 to Oct. 6 at this point, with roles such as servers, casino dealers and tough-looking individuals, as well as people to play Buddhist and Cambodian monks.  Rate of pay ranges from $110 to $250 per eight hours, depending on experience in the role and other background work. Albuquerque Police found more than what they expecting while serving a warrant at a home at 12224 Vienna Drive NE. Around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, they discovered a deceased individual inside when they arrived at the home in the SY Jackson neighborhood near Tramway and Montgomery, according to Daren DeAguero, APD spokesman. No other details were provided by police, including who the warrant was being served to at the address. 

Ever wanted to learn how to map the terrain around on hikes but didn’t know where to start?  A basic orienteering workshop, led by Jerry Boyd and designed as a three-hour tour, shows people how to navigate through a series of checkpoints with participants deciding the best route along the way.  This free event starts at 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 25. A bad fall can be the beginning of the end for some seniors, as falling is one of the greatest causes of injury to people over age 65. Experts say it is important to be vigilantly active you age. The historic KiMo Theatre has hosted special events and joyous celebrations for more than nine decades, with big names such as Vivian Vance and Bob Odenkirk gracing the stage.
