David Meyers, health and wellness officer from Albuquerque Fire Rescue, said on Saturday, Sept. 24, a citywide cleanup and restoration project is asking folks to pitch in and help make their surrounding neighborhoods look great.  As of late, trash and overgrown weeds have been a concern in the city, and organizers hope for people to not only imagine a cleaner city but to make strides in volunteering to make the metro a cleaner and better place for everyone to enjoy. The Fairy Prom Mother has come to Albuquerque.The project helps students who cannot afford formal wear for homecoming, winter formal or prom get the dress or suit of their dreams.Lena Pacheco, founder of the project, said her makeshift boutique was well received in Denver, where she started it in May 2021. A multi-agency raid headed by the FBI served 16 federal warrants throughout the city in early morning takedowns that procured one of the largest money and drug busts in Albuquerque on Thursday. The Elevated Roller Derby league in Albuquerque is offering a unique bootcamp where patrons can learn how to skate, how roller derby works and meet the elevated league.  They’re the first flat-track roller derby league in Albuquerque, handing out hip checks since 2005, and is a fully volunteer nonprofit with more than 70 active members and 20 junior team skaters on the Marionettes junior team, according to their site.
