The Eldorado Golden Eagles varsity football team lost to the Rio Rancho Rams on Saturday, Aug. 27, with a final score of 34-17. The Golden Eagles now sport a 0-2 record. They take the field next when they host Atrisco Heritage Academy Jaguars for a non-league challenge on Saturday, Sept. 3. The Jaguars record now stands at 1-1. The new El Portal from the New Mexico State Libraries gives free 24/7 access to all New Mexico residents with a wide variety of information, e-books and more with this collection of databases.  The NM reads section is a collection of New Mexico-based authors and stories. There are Gales in context pages from elementary, to college level. The Albuquerque Teacher’s Federation had a huge win on Wednesday when the Albuquerque Public Schools board voted to approve a newly negotiated contract 6-1.  The board came under much criticism and scrutiny from the teacher’s union and parents after the union declared an impasse and made a petition demanding that contract mediations be resolved after negotiating for more than five months.  The contract approval was resolved in a special two-hour meeting behind closed doors, according to a statement made by APS. Registration for the PSAT exam is now open for grade 11th-grade students at Eldorado High School through Sept.9.Students can pay by for the exam by credit/debit card or by check or money order when registering. Cost is $25 with a 3% credit card use fee. Spaces are limited. Average gas prices went up this week in the 87111 zip code, jumping from $3.28 to $3.79.
