Albuquerque FBI and United States postal Service are asking help identifying suspects who robbed a postal carrier in the Northeast Heights on Oct. 4 near the intersection of Cairo Drive and Key West Drive NE. The agency is offering a reward of up to 50,000 for the arrest and conviction of the suspects. One suspect is described as male, approximately 5-feet, 7 inches tall wearing dark blue jeans, a white baseball hat and a gray hooded sweatshirt and driving what appears to be a black sedan with silver trim and black rims. Albuquerque Police have arrested a couple for the murder of 65-year-old William Lee Vencill on Sept. 15. Emery Gallegos and Savannah Davis, both 19, were charged after a dispute over a parking spot at the Northeast Heights Mission Hill apartments. Homicide detectives used surveillance video and other investigative methods to identify Gallegos and Davis, who were taken into custody on Wednesday at a bowling alley where Gallegos works. During interviews, Gallegos and Davis told detectives they were concerned with Vencill parking near their apartment and confronted him as he was looking for a parking spot. This smartphone app uses sophisticated location-based services and notifies subscribers, who have indicated they are CPR trained, that a sudden cardiac arrest event is nearby. On Saturday Nov. 12, officers from Albuquerque Police Department will be getting coffee from 8-9 a.m. at the Starbucks on Juan Tabo near Indian School NE and invite residents to have a cup of joe and enjoy some conversation. The foothills 10 mile run, which moved from the La Luz Trail to the Elena Gallegos Open Space this year, will bring 400 runners together for this 10K with prize money to the top five male and female runners to cross the finish line. A grassroots organization dedicated to preserving the open space has decided to organize a rally around the event.
