Sunday’s 2022 FIFA World Cup final was one of the most thrilling games in the tournament’s history, with Argentina winning the trophy on penalty kicks (4-2) after finishing 120-plus minutes of regular and extra time tied at 3-3. Cross-country skiers will be able to enjoy four miles of well-maintained and groomed trails this winter thanks to the Sandia Nordic Ski Club.Club volunteers moved dirt, trees and rocks over the summer to create a safe and enjoyable trail system for skiers to use in the winter. Eldorado was quick to get ahead and keep the lead against home team Albuquerque High on Friday. The Eagles boys varsity basketball team dominated the passing game and kept the ball moving, making it difficult for the Bulldogs to catch up. It’s hard not to notice the bronze sculpture on the corner of Corona Avenue and Wyoming Boulevard. A bright yellow working fire hydrant sits just in front of the sculpture, which depicts a fireman releasing the water from a mock fire hydrant and a bicyclist with a passenger on back about to ride through the water. Albuquerque police arrested Jose Moreno after he shot at police during a pursuit early Thursday morning. According to a press release by the Albuquerque Police Department, Moreno fired several rounds at officers after they were dispatched to a call about someone shooting at a security guard near Lomas Boulevard and Interstate 25 around 2 a.m. “Officers responded and pursued the suspect vehicle when the passenger oriented his body outside the moving vehicle and discharged a firearm several times,” the release reads. “The passenger pointed the firearm directly at officers during the pursuit.” The incident began at 1201 Legion NE and…

Three La Cueva High School football players were in Dallas, Texas, on Monday playing against some of the best athletes in the country in the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl. La Cueva senior and varsity quarterback Aidan Armenta, safety Colt Mangio and running back Gabriel Buie were all selected to play on the West Team, which beat the East Team 37-17 . West La Cueva neighborhood resident Carol Hansen has been an artist for a long time, but it wasn’t until her Great Dane was diagnosed with cancer that she started doing pet portraits. Hansen said the commission earned from the pet portraits helped to pay for her dog’s treatment. “He has passed, but people still want the drawings, so I use the funds to help pay for my current dog’s medical expenses,” Hansen explained. “A few of the drawings I sent you are local dogs, but most are from friends on Instagram.” Hansen said she has drawn close to 300 portraits…
