Albuquerque Public Schools is currently surveying staff and community members about the option to implement an extended school year and day. The online surveys, which will be conducted through May 1, will be used to assess opinions, concerns and expectations for an extended school year to help the district understand the public’s desires moving forward. Albuquerque Animal Welfare is hosting a virtual kitten and puppy shower in anticipation of an influx of orphaned puppies and kittens through the summer season. Donations are being collected through April 30 and can be dropped off at any of the department’s shelters. A list of shelter locations is available at www.cabq.gov/pets. Items can also be ordered off the baby registry on Amazon by searching for “Kennel Kompadres.” Additionally, Animal Welfare is seeking foster parents to provide temporary homes for animals.
