The event started Friday, Nov. 18, and ends Sunday, Nov. 20. The run is broken into four segments where every four hours deputies run four miles for 48 hours, for a total of 48 miles. According to a BCSO press release, the 4x4x48 run was inspired by former Navy Seal David Goggins.

Donations and pledges were taken for each leg the deputies complete. Those who wish to donate can still do so by sending a check payable to BCSOCAAA, PO Box 65750 Albuquerque, New Mexico 87193 or by visiting the BCSO Metro 2 Family Relief GoFundMe page.
