The location was made famous by two pivotal scenes in “Breaking Bad” as a safe pickup location for characters Jesse and Walt.
Seeing this location used more than once to extract the shows characters, one must wonder about its exemplification.
Little graffiti adorns the concrete pillars, and the flood gate is distinctive in its design to cascade water down slowly over time. And that is all it is: just a dam.
Named after the engineer who created the dam, which sits at 5,745 feet above sea level just west of the Bear Canyon foothills, is one of few open spaces left in the nearby densely populated NE heights neighborhoods.
Hiking trails to the canyon surround the basin which can be found just north of the parking area at the dam.
Wildlife such as deer, coyotes and rattlesnakes can be seen in the basin and on surrounding trails.
Although it is just a dam, it is an “Albu-quirky” marvel, and hundreds of tourists and hikers come to the dam yearly.
