Soccer

The Lady Chargers destroyed Bloomfield 7-0 during the 2022 Fuddruckers Girls Soccer State Championships 4A quarterfinal game on Friday. They move on to the semifinals in a hotly contested matchup against St. Pius X on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Albuquerque Academy. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. The winner of that game will take on Hope Christian or Los Alamos in the championship match at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5. The state final will be played at Cleveland High School.

Senior Anna Babinski scored a hat trick against Bloomfield, while freshman A. Sprately and sophomore Reily Cates scored two goals each for the Chargers. Albuquerque Academy is ranked second in New Mexico 4A by MaxPreps, behind No. 1 ranked Hope Christian.

Academy’s boys varsity team was knocked out of the 4A state championships after losing to Highland 1-0 on Saturday, Oct. 29. Junior Luke Babinski is named team leader for Academy by MaxPreps, finishing the season with a total of 21 goals, 12 assists and 43 shots. The boys finished the season with an 8-0 record in 4A District 6 and a 13-5-3 record overall.

Cross-country

The 2022 Western Sky Community Care State Cross Country Championships takes place Saturday, Nov. 5, at Albuquerque Academy. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students, military and seniors. The girls 4A race begins at 12:40 p.m. and the boys 4A race at 1:55 p.m. For more information, visit nmact.org/sports/cross-country/#championship.

Football

The Chargers’ varsity team defeated Bernalillo 27-24 in its last regular season game on Friday, Oct. 28. They take on Bernalillo Friday, Nov. 4, at Albuquerque Academy in the first round of the 4A 2022 Nusenda Credit Union State Football Championships. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. The winner of that game will take play Taos in the quarterfinals.

Volleyball

Academy’s varsity team takes on Bernalillo in a district home game at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2. They are on a two-game win streak after defeating both Hope Christian and Del Norte 3-0 last week. The Chargers are ranked No. 8 in New Mexico Division 4A by MaxPreps with an overall record of 11-11.
