School rankings can be all-encompassing when a family is looking to move to a new city or neighborhood, and can even sometimes determine how and where a family will live and go to school for years to come, so school rankings and stats can make all the difference when looking to better your child’s education. Eldorado High School in the Northeast Heights is a public Albuquerque School for grades 9-12 and this article will give some perspective on how well the school ranks.
EHS, according to U.S. News, has an overall school score of 76.68 out of 100 based on AP test scores, as well as subject proficiency and graduation rates at 85% while the graduation state ranking is at #66 in the state.
EHS holds a Grade A from the New Mexico Public Education Department (in 2010) and is ranked #8 of the 13 High Schools in the Albuquerque Public School district, is #22 in New Mexico High Schools overall, and #4,161 in national rankings.
Total enrollment was at 1,694 (2020-21) students and has a 17:1 of student to teacher ratio. The school’s college readiness ranking is at #25, while the College Curriculum Index rating is at #11 state-wide.
Eldorado was established in 1970 when the surrounding community was also being built and occupied.
The school currently holds 84 state sports titles from 19 boys and girls teams over the years, participating in 14 different sports categories. Students and alumni still sport the Texas orange, gold, and white colors of the Golden Eagle mascot.
Martin Sandoval is the principal of EHS with around 95 employees. According to APS, Sandoval makes $137,000 per year.
The school has also been used in a number of filming productions, including in 2007 when it was revealed that the school was used in season 6 of “Breaking Bad,” was briefly featured in “Better Call Saul,” and was most recently used in production with season four of “Stranger Things” as the school Eleven attends in California called Lenora Hills High School.
