Albuquerque Police Department spokesperson Gilbert Gallegos released the name of the victim who was found shot to death outside the Marriott Pyramid on July 26. Gallegos said the victim is 51-year-old Louie Sedillo.

“Detectives have not released any additional details about the ongoing investigation,” Gallegos wrote in an email.

The Gun Violence Archive, citing KRQE and the Albuquerque Journal, states that the male victim was found dead in the bushes of the hotel parking lot but was possibly shot at another location.

In their 2022 Homicides Year-to-Date crime statistics report, APD lists the death as being a homicide taking place July 26 at 5151 San Francisco Drive NE. That report, and the 2022 Homicide Weekly Report Year-To-Date, only lists this year’s homicides up to July 29, 2022, as of the time of this writing.

According to the 2022 Homicide Weekly/YTD Summary, APD has a homicide clearance rate of 91.18%, including homicide and justified homicide cases solved in 2022. There were eight reported homicide victims in APD’s Northeast Area Command so far this year. Last year there were 13 homicide victims in the Northeast Area Command.
Citywide there were fewer homicides in July of 2022 compared to July of 2021.
Between January 1 and July 29 of this year there were more homicide victims in Albuquerque compared to the same time period last year.
