For some, Independence Day means shooting off fireworks and barbecuing in the backyard, and for others it’s all about family. When asked what his plans are for this Fourth of July weekend, Jonathan Bertanelli, who recently applied to be an honorary member of the Heritage East Association of Residents, said he is going to see his daughters and granddaughter in Colorado.

“I am driving back to Colorado Springs to visit my two daughters whom are in their mid-30s and my granddaughter who is 4 1/2. I used to tell my daughters when they were little that they were my favorite and precious ones. But now I tell them, ‘You’re not my favorite anymore because little Lucy, my granddaughter, is my favorite and precious one.’ So, I’m going back to spend time with all of them, but more importantly to spend time with my little precious granddaughter. She’s the highlight of my life.”
