The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Officer reported Wednesday that K9 Nordy, the police service dog who was stabbed while police attempted to apprehend a suspect last week, was home and recovering from the injuries suffered during the incident.

K9 Nordy was injured by an armed suspect last week.
Nordy was stabbed once on Sept. 2 in the “upper neck and shoulder area” as police attempted to apprehend a 40-year-old female who had barricaded herself inside of a residence.
Jebrene Garcia was charged with aggravated residential burglary, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, battery, resisting, evading or obstructing an officer, injury to a police dog and aggravated assault on a peace officer after a long SWAT standoff that resulted in Nordy being utilized and injured.
