The far Northeast Heights has lots to offer local residents — from hiking in the foothills to playing pickle ball at North Domingo Baca – but for some it’s all about the restaurants. A question posed on NextDoor asked locals where their favorite place to go in the far Northeast Heights is, and six out of the eight replies included restaurants.

Jinja Bar & Bistro and La Reforma were the most popular restaurants among those who answered. Jinja Bar & Bistro serves Asian dishes including Singapore noodles, Hong Kong chicken or pork, and Thai red shrimp. Jinja’s Northeast Heights location is at 8900 Holly Ave NE., Ste. B. La Reforma serves Mexico-style street tacos, craft beer and cocktails. La Reforma is located at 8900 San Mateo Blvd., NE Suite I, just west of I-25 and north of Alameda.

Other responses include Pizzeria Luca, the Kolache Factory, Farino Alto Pizzeria & Wine Bar and Pokelulu. While at the Kolache Factory about a month ago, one customer said, “This place is dangerous,” adding that they can’t keep themselves from coming back for more.

However, it wasn’t all about food.

One person, Mike Murphy of Heritage Hills, replied that home is their favorite place to go in the area. Brian Eagan of North Domingo Baca said, “Going for a ride up the Sandia Peak Tramway! Beautiful views. And I like to hike on trails.”
