Albuquerque police arrested Jose Moreno after he shot at police during a pursuit early Thursday morning.
According to a press release by the Albuquerque Police Department, Moreno fired several rounds at officers after they were dispatched to a call about someone shooting at a security guard near Lomas Boulevard and Interstate 25 around 2 a.m.
“Officers responded and pursued the suspect vehicle when the passenger oriented his body outside the moving vehicle and discharged a firearm several times,” the release reads. “The passenger pointed the firearm directly at officers during the pursuit.”
The incident began at 1201 Legion NE and ended near the intersection of Zuni Road and Indiana Street. Moreno reportedly exited the vehicle and was taken into custody at that location. He is being charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer, negligent use of a deadly weapon and eluding/evading police.
