Incoming studs in grades nine through 12 interested in playing for the La Cueva High School girls soccer team are invited to register for a July 25-29 team camp. The cost is $160 and includes insurance and a T-shirt. The cost after July 1 is $200.

Players will work on technical, fitness and tactical skills during the training sessions. Check in is at 7:30 a.m. on Monday followed by a two- to three-hour focus on technique from 8-10 or 11 a.m. Part two of the daily camp runs from 6-7:30 p.m. and focuses on tactics and game situations. Enrollment is limited to the first 70 girls and early registration suggested, although walk-up registration may be accepted if space is available..

Shin guards and cleats are mandatory and physical fitness a prerequisite. Players must also complete a physical before attending the camp. For instructions on how to turn in a physical, visit lacueva.aps.edu/athletics.

Head soccer coach Amber Ashcraft and members of the La Cueva coaching staff will be running the camp. Players are expected to be in good physical condition and ready to play. The camp will help prepare players for the Aug. 8 tryouts. During tryouts, players will need to bring a soccer ball, soccer cleats, shin guards, running shoes, water bottle and a mask.
