The La Cueva High School boys and girls golf teams are the 2022 Albuquerque Metro Golf champions.

Jake Yrene, a sophomore at La Cueva, took home the title for individual boys with a score of 73, one under Cibola’s Aiden Krafft (74) and La Cueva’s Kirin Hochenedel (74).

The boys team took first with an overall score of 304, 11 under second-place Cibola (315) and 15 strokes less than third-place St. Pius (319).

All five golfers for La Cueva’s girls team scored under 80, with an overall score of 348, 10 under second-place St. Pius (358) and 53 strokes less than third-place Manzano (401).

The 2022 Albuquerque Metro Golf Championships took place Monday, April 25, at Ladera Golf Course. The district 2-5A Championships will be at Los Altos Golf Course May 2, followed by the Class 5A state tournament at Twin Warriors Golf Club on May 9.
