La Cueva High School is ranked the top baseball school in Albuquerque by MaxPreps.
MaxPreps took its 2022 computer ratings to compile the top 10 teams from each major city and used the sum of the ratings for those 10 schools to determine the top 25 high school baseball cities in the U.S. Teams from suburbs were not factored in.
Albuquerque is ranked No. 11 out of the top 25 cities with a cumulative score of 152.8. San Diego is ranked No. 1 with a score of 201. The top 10 baseball schools in Albuquerque and their associated scores are:

La Cueva’s varsity baseball team was ranked No. 2 in New Mexico as of June 23, 2022, behind No. 1 ranked Carlsbad. La Cueva finished No. 2 in the 5A District 2 standings, behind Sandia and No. 2 in 5A overall standings, behind Rio Rancho. MaxPreps computer rankings are based on a number of factors including number of regular season wins, playoff wins and quality wins. “For example, a team’s ranking is hurt more by losing to a team that is ranked below them than a team ranked ahead,” according to MaxPreps.
