Two teams from La Cueva High School’s robotics club qualified to compete in the 2022 VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas, Texas, May 5-7. In a March 6 tweet, @LaCuevaRobotics posted, “Because of our teams hard work over this year and their performance at state, TWO of our teams (55885S & 55885X) have qualified to compete in the VEX Robotics World Championship!!”
According to a robotevents.com webpage, La Cueva robotics’ teams SKETCH, KRONOS and INQUISITOR all received awards at the March 5 VRC State Championship tournament at Cibola High School. Team SKETCH received the Innovate Award, KRONOS took home the Build Award, and INQUISITOR won the Think Award. Team SKETCH also won the Tournament Champions award in the 2021-22 Albuquerque Robotics League Division 1 competition.
Teams from the robotics club qualified to compete in nationals for three years in a row, but because of COVID restrictions have not been able to travel. This year, team members hope to make it Dallas and are raising money to pay for the expenses through a GoFundMe page. The club has raised $100 out of the $1,500 goal as of March 14, according to the fundraising site.
