A love of macarons and a chance Valentine’s Day order resulted in Tami O’Bryan and her daughter, Tori Ruggles, to bring a new dessert shop to northwest Albuquerque.

Le Macaron, located in Riverside Plaza, is just a short drive from Ventana Ranch. And it is worth the drive.

O’Bryan and Ruggles enjoyed making and trying to perfect macarons at home, which led to O’Bryan placing an online order from national chain Le Macaron for her daughter for Valentine’s Day.

“It all started with trying to make macarons ourselves, my daughter and I,” O’Bryan said. “They’re  very finicky to make, so my daughter and I had tried for months to get them perfected. I went online to order her some for Valentine’s Day a year ago and found they franchise. I had tasted their macarons in Las Vegas and in California, so I just decided to send off for information on it, and the rest is history.”

Le Macaron opened its first Albuquerque franchise on April 3 and has been a hit so far.

Le Macaron obviously offers a host of different flavors of authentic French macarons, including season flavors like gingerbread Christmas and pumpkin, as well as gelato, eclairs, coffee drinks and visually stunning hand-painted chocolates.

The shop has a relaxed vibe with lots of patio seating.

“We’re just trying to create a fun but relaxing atmosphere,” O’Bryan said. “We have great products, and they’re all made by French pastry chefs.”

Le Macaron is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and is located at 6241 Riverside Plaza Lane. You can also call 505-554-2966 For more information, click here.
