Is it magic or just skill? The A team for Madison Middle School volleyball is undefeated with a 5-0 record this season, defeating Jimmy Carter, Jefferson and Eisenhower in its last three games.

“The team has been playing fantastic volleyball this season and has won every set,” Coach Michael Gallegos said in an email. “Charlie Ferguson has been setting the ball really well, which helps set the tone of the game right away.”

The A team beat Eisenhower 25-13, 25-13 in its latest victory.

“Camilla Villarreal has been killing the ball on a consistent basis and helping put the other teams on their heels throughout the game. Great play defensively has come from Sofia Flores-Gallegos, Emagen Schultz, Izzy Herrera and Sydeny Harris,” Gallegos said.

The B team is also doing well, having won its first game against Jimmy Carter. Gallegos said the “B team continues to improve game by game” and has played close matches with Jefferson and Eisenhower.

The Magic take on James Monroe at home from 5-6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28. Gallegos said if the A team continues to win, they will compete in “the battle of the undefeateds” when they take on Tony Hillerman Oct. 5. The “Wear Pink or Go Home” themed gamed will help bring attention to breast cancer awareness.
