Ma’s Tea House isn’t just about tasty drinks. It’s also about having a good time.

On Dec. 17, 2021, Lorenzo Trujillo and his wife, Jennifer, opened the doors to Ma’s Tea House, “where great tea and fantastic vibes meet.”

Lorenzo, who worked as a financial advisor, gave up his career to open the tea shop basically to satisfy his wife’s craving for boba tea. Since then Ma’s Tea House has been making tasty drinks for its customers.

All of our stuff is fresh,” Lorenzo said. “Our boba is made fresh throughout the day. So smaller pots of tea are made daily. It’ll never be over a day old. So at the end of the night, usually we don’t have any left over, but if we do, we take it home for self-enjoyment. The fruit we cut every single day we buy every two days, so nothing gets reused.”

Ma’s Tea House is unlike most drink stops because Lorenzo wants his customers to stay and hang out in his shop.

“ I like to say that our feeling inside is different,” Lorenzo said. “I made it geared towards sitting down and slowing down because nowadays everything is ‘go go go go go.’ We have a nice hangout spot. A lot of places that you go to; they’re very small. It’s a walk in, grab and go. We have selfie rooms, so everyone can go back there and take some pictures. Everyone loves doing it. So it works out really well. And then with being centralized between all the schools, I wanted the kids outside of athletics to have somewhere that they can hang out in a safe and positive environment for them that’s also close to home.”

Ma’s Tea House offers a variety of drinks, including specials, hot tea, coffee, milk tea, fruit tea, fruit shakes, slush and fizz. There’s also 17 toppings you can add to your drink. Pandan Puffs are the only food item on the menu. Pandan Puffs are sweet and have a waffle-like texture served naked or topped with sliced strawberry and Nutella drizzle.

The tea house is located at 6510 Paradise Blvd. NW, Suite B, and is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
