Kickball is not just for kids. Adults can play, too, and for one Meetup group it’s a regular event where 30-40-year-olds can make new friends and get some exercise at the same time.

The Albuquerque Fun 30’s to 40’s Meetup group hosts numerous events around the city, including “Kickball (Just for Fun) – Tin Can Alley.” Members of the group regularly play at North Domingo Baca Park on Sunday evenings to “enjoy outdoor fun and make new friends.” The group has 743 members, with 27 of them signed up for their next kickball match on Sunday, June 26.

Details of the event say no experience is necessary and all levels are welcome. As of June 14, there were 13 spots left for Sunday’s game. Anyone interested in playing or attending other events must request to join the group through the meetup.com website. A description of the group says they are “looking for great people in their 30s and 40s who like to have fun and enjoy everything Albuquerque has to offer.”

The kickball event page says the rules are like baseball except no stealing or sliding. Close calls go to the underdog team or the runner, and teams adjusted to ensure an even game. “Your fun spirit and positive attitude mandatory,” the description reads.

Sunday’s match begins at 7 p.m., with participants asked to agree to sign a waiver and chip in a few bucks to go toward Meetup fees and additional equipment. To join the group and sign up to play, visit meetup.com/albuquerque-fun-30s-to-40s/.
