Neighborhood associations planning on hosting a National Night Out event are being asked to register their event at cabq.gov/national-night-out by July 26. Once registered, events will be shared with city officials, Albuquerque Police Department officers and crime prevention personnel so they can attend as many events as possible.
National Night Out events are organized around the country to bring neighbors together through block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other community events to send a message that they are fighting back against crime. The annual event takes place on the first Tuesday in August and runs from 5-9 p.m.
A press release from the Office of Neighborhood Coordination says, “National Night Out is an excellent opportunity for you and your neighbors to socialize, renew acquaintances, welcome new neighbors, and join fellow citizens in our community’s fight against crime.”
The ONC will print two flyers for each recognized neighborhood association to promote their event. To request the free printing, send a Word, JPEG or PDF file of the flyer to be printed to vanessabaca@cabq.gov. The city website also offers a generic flyer for neighborhoods to print and make copies of for event promotion.
