As the school year officially kicks off for most Albuquerque Public Schools students Wednesday, New Mexico United announced the soccer team will host a “Back to School Night” match in September.

The match on Sept. 2 against El Paso Locomotive FC at Isotopes Park begins at 7 p.m. with gates opening at 6 p.m.

APS employees and families can get discounted tickets. A portion of all proceeds from the match will be donated to the APS Education Foundation for school and classroom grants.

NM United hosted “Educators Night” in July, also with a portion of the proceeds going to the APS Education Foundation.

“This is the second New Mexico United game of the season dedicated to the educators and students of Albuquerque Public Schools,” said Shannon Barnhill, executive director of the APS Education Foundation. “We appreciate the support of New Mexico United as we kick off the 2022-2023 school year. Somos Unidos!”
