Five La Cueva varsity football players will be on the 2022 New Mexico All-Star Football Red team and four will be on the Green team for the Saturday, Dec. 3 All-Star game in Artesia, New Mexico.

The teams will go head-to-head at 3 p.m. at the Bulldog Bowl. Tickets are $10 cash only and can be purchased at the game.

La Cueva athletes to watch the Wool Bowl before playing in the All-Star game

Athletes travel to Artesia Thursday, Dec. 1, where they will practice from 2:30-4:30 p.m. before checking into their hotels.

At 5:40 p.m. athletes will head to Artesia MainStreet for the Light Up Artesia Parade before having steak dinners at 7 p.m. The dinner is hosted by the Artesia Football Booster Club.

On Friday, Dec. 2 there will be two team practices before athletes depart to Roswell to watch the New Mexico Military Institute Broncos take on the Lackawanna College Falcons in the 2022 HF Sinclair Wool Bowl. General admission tickets for the game are $5 and students and kids under 14 are free. Tickets can be purchased on the Wool Bowl website.

Red and Green All-Star teams will head back to Artesia before having one last practice on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Gates at the Bulldog Bowl open at 11:15 a.m. and the Small School Red vs. Green All-Star game starts at noon.

The Large School Red vs. Green starts at 3 p.m., with the Green team being coached by Chad Wallin of Volcano Vista and the Red team by La Cueva’s Brandon Back. The Wool Bowl and both All-Star games will be streamed live on KSVPtv.com.

La Cueva athletes bring skill and experience to both teams

Here’s a look at the La Cueva players on both the Large School Red and Green All-Star Teams:

Red Team:

Hunter Roswold, defensive line – a 6-foot-1-inch, 170-pound senior with 44 tackles and five sacks under his belt for the 2022-23 season as tracked by MaxPreps.

Isaac Molina, offensive line: a 6-foot-1-inch, 260-pound senior who also wrestles for La Cueva.

Mason Crowell, punter: a 5-foot-11-inch, 175-pound senior with a total of four touchdowns for La Cueva in his junior and senior years on the varsity team. He also wrestles and is on the track and field team.

Aidan Armenta, quarterback: a 6-foot-3-inch, 190-pound senior who committed to playing for the University of New Mexico upon graduation. Armenta racked up 3,283 passing yards, 218 pass completions and 40 passing touchdowns in the 2022-23 season.

Ian Sanchez, slot receiver: a 5-foot-11-inch, 165-pound senior who scored 20 touchdowns, accumulated 1,376 receiving yards and 79 catches in the 2022-23 season.

Green Team:

Gabriel Buie, right back: a 5-foot-10-inch, 170-pound senior with 714 rushing yards, 10 rushing touchdowns and 86 carries in the 2022-23 season.

Celestino “Tino” Reyes, offensive line: a 6-foot-1-inch, 235-pound senior who also wrestles for La Cueva.

Colt Mangino, secondary: a 5-foot-11-inch, 160-pound senior with 33 tackles and five interceptions in the 2022-23 season.

Christian Melo, at-large: a 6-foot, 165-pound senior with 17 tackles and one interception in the 2022-23 season.
