The early childhood education and care department has now set up meal sites throughout Albuquerque for children to utilize the summer food service program. This federally funded program serves children ages 1-18. Those with a mental or physical disability over the age of 18 can also receive free meals, which is determined by the participating state or educational agencies.
All meals are nutritionally balanced, and the program follows the USDA-established meal patterns and portion sizes.
The purpose of this program is to provide food service to children from needy areas during periods when area schools are closed for vacation.
Most locations serve both breakfast and lunch, and here are some of the locations in the 87111 Northeast area. Most locations will be giving out meals until July 29.
