One of the top reasons people move to New Mexico is because of the wide open spaces, outdoor adventures and numerous mountain ranges to explore. People also stay in New Mexico for the same reason.

Those who make Albuquerque their home are lucky to get a dose of both small city living and the great outdoors. The city life offers job opportunities, social activities and a variety of entertainment venues, while the towering Sandia Mountains to the east provide easy access to hiking trails, cross country skiing, amazing views and peace of mind.

Getting away from the city is easy for those in Albuquerque. The Sandia Mountains can be accessed from numerous trailheads in the foothills to a quick 20–30-minute drive through Placitas or Tijeras.

There are numerous options for nature enthusiasts to enjoy, from exploring the Sandia Cave to a trip up to Sandia Peak on the tram or just viewing them from home. No matter how the Sandia’s are used, they are there for everyone to enjoy, and as long as they are taken care of, will be well into the future.
