Each week the Neighborhood Journal asks community members to answer a question about a current event. For the week of March 21-27, the question was:
Last week we did our spring forward into Daylight Saving Time and the Senate passed a bill to make the change permanent. What are your thoughts on the measure?
Heritage Hills neighbor Paul Brownlow answered: “I would prefer just standard time, but Daylight Saving Time is great if we just keep it all year. I don’t like the change in the time.”
When asked at Quintessence Park, Tina Blea answered: “As long as we keep one time. That’s what I want. I don’t want to change anymore. So I’m good with that. The other thing is, why do we rely on the government for that anyway? But that could be another question of the week.”
Angela Wood of Vineyard Estates answered: “I like Daylight Saving Time. I would prefer not to have the different times throughout the year. I would like for it to just be constant.”
Madison Middle School student Emery Greene answered: “I would like it to stay the same because it’s just easier.”
Kim Burton, from the Wyoming & Academy area, answered: “I didn’t even know this. I think the challenging part to it is – because I have family in other states – I already have some family in Arizona, so we already have to think wait a minute, are you one hour behind, or are you two hours or are we the same? And trying to keep track of that. They [Arizona] get it and they’re used to it, but I think it would just be harder for me because I have a lot of family in Texas and in New York. So, trying to keep track of that for the time. I mean it’s not hard. You can look it up but it’s just one extra step.”
