Stunning views of the Sandia Mountains and breathtaking sunsets are reason enough to stop at Quintessence Park and relax for a couple hours. In addition, there are two basketball hoops, two tennis courts, two playgrounds, a large grassy field, a walking or jogging trail, and two pavilions with tables and benches to sit and read or host a birthday party.
Quintessence Park is located in the far northeast heights, just east of Ventura Rd. and south of San Francisco Rd. and is maintained by the City of Albuquerque’s Parks Management Division. The 5.34-acre open space is adjacent to North Pino Arroyo and bike trail residents use to take in the views and get in their daily dose of exercise
Easy access to the city’s trail system provides park goers a nice starting point to either head east toward the foothills or south/southwest into the city. From the southwest side of the park joggers, walkers, and bicyclists can head south on Raman Trail along Holbrook Street and then west on Jay Yogeshwar Trail which connects to Heritage Hills Park just west of Ventura Road.
Although tucked away in a residential neighborhood and not well known by many, the park is busy throughout the year, with residents and visitors taking advantage of the recreational facilities on a regular basis. Unlike some other parks throughout the city, Quintessence provides a sense of safety, is clean, well maintained, and worthy of a visit if you’re in the area.
In a Google review local guide Andrea Landacker gives the park four stars, writing, “The only thing missing is water/bathrooms!”
