The Yoga Art Space is hosting a floating Yoga Nidra Meditation class. This practice of pose-free deep relaxation meditation yoga has participants suspended on hammocks while the goal is to slow down, relax and quiet one’s mind to walk away feeling tranquil and content.

Studies have shown this particular type of yoga practice can help reduce symptoms of anxiety and stress.

Instructors say to expect a deep sense of peace and deep relaxation while learning relaxation techniques. People can bring their own blanket and eye mask while learning to meditate into a state between wakefulness and sleep. Instructors ask people stay hydrated and have a light breakfast at least two hours prior to the class. Unlike arial yoga, floating yoga is pose-free and solely focuses on calming the body and mind.

The class is $20 and is located at 8338 Comanche Road NE. To pre-register for Saturday’s 10:30 a.m. class, which runs for an hour, click here.
