Albuquerque Police say a woman was injured when a man she knew came to the store around 1 p.m. Friday at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Cutler NE and shot her. Police say the victim was transported to the hospital and is in critical condition. APD spokesman Gilbert Gallegos said there is no active threat as the two parties involved know each other.

“This shooting has been made a serious crimes callout because of the nature of the wounds. A female victim is in critical but stable condition at the hospital” Gallegos said. “A male suspect is in custody. This appears to be a domestic violence-related shooting— we will send out the criminal complaint as soon as it is made available to us.”

A witness said she heard from employees that the victim had put a restraining order against the man, who came into the store break room after finding out about it and shot her.

Another shooting at the Walmart on Wyoming and Menaul NE occurred Oct. 11 when a man shot another man in the leg. Security was able to detain the shooter until police arrived to arrest him and sent the other man to the hospital.
