Albuquerque’s Animal Welfare Department and Kennel Kompadres ahave partnered with Best Friends Animal Society to bring National Adoption Weekend to the city.

The Eastside and Westside shelters and the Everyday Adoption Center located in the PetSmart on Eubank will take part Friday through Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

As part of National Adoption Weekend, the adoption fee is waived for all pets. Each adoption will include spay or neuter, a microchip, required vaccinations and one free initial vet visit. For dogs, you will receive one free dog training class.

“This adoption event could not have come at a better time and we are so appreciative of Best Friends support,” said Carolyn Ortega, director of Animal Welfare Department. “By adopting this weekend, you’re not only giving a pet a home, but helping keep other pet families together.”
