Remodeling and conversion of the old IHOP to a Tula’s Kitchen continues at the southeast corner of La Cueva Town Center next to Dion’s, with the restaurant scheduled to open sometime this summer. Dion’s senior marketing manager Audrey Johnson announced the new restaurant opening in a November 2021 press release.

Tula’s Kitchen is being called a Dion’s sister restaurant and will serve grilled sandwiches, chicken, salads, cocktails, beer and wine. According to the Albuquerque Journal, Tula’s will have an outdoor fire pit and patio that can seat 60 customers and an indoor dining area with a capacity for 130 customers.

A Feb. 26 job posting on salary.com shows the expected pay range for the general manager position at Tula’s Kitchen to be between $70,000-$90,000 annually. The posting said the general manager would start in March. According to salary.com, “Tula’s Kitchen is a modern-casual restaurant featuring crave-worthy food and drinks, a large patio, and a comfortable environment for family dinners, get-togethers among couples and friends and business meetings.”

Albuquerque local Mark Herman is the Chief Executive Officer of Dion’s and, according to the Dion’s website, he accepted a general management position there in 1992. “Over the next 15 years, he took on various roles in the company and earned his unofficial MBA from the School of Hard Knocks,” the website says.
