It can be a daunting task to find somewhere to eat, but especially when on a restricted diet. However, it seems there are some options out there for the vegans and celiacs in Albuquerque, and here are a few places in the Northeast Heights.  

Vegan and vegetarian

V (vegan) Veg (vegetarian) GF (gluten-free)

The Acre, 4410 Wyoming Blvd. NE   V, VEG, GF options

The Acre is comfort vegetarian food with many vegan options including their vegan and gluten-free on request mac and cheese or pasta dishes, cauliflower wings, their house-made beet/black bean/quinoa burgers, comfort hot dogs and jackfruit adovada burrito. The location offers an array of wine, cocktail and beer selection and often does seasonal tastings and pairing of the dishes and specialty wines.

Annapurna’s, 5200 Eubank Blvd. NE V, Veg, GF options

Annapurna’s is the oldest-running vegan cafe for more than 20 years and now has three locations throughout Albuquerque, offering what has become known as the “place for healing cuisine.” The menu boasts a vegan grilled cheese, tacos, wraps, portobello burger and a selection of Ayurvedic teas. Thai Vegan, 5505 Osuna Road NE V, Veg, GF options

Thai vegan offers a large selection of vegan Thai noodle dishes offering red, green and yellow curry, veggie dinner combos and soy, tofu, veggie and wheat meat burgers. 

Fork and Fig, 6904 Menaul Blvd. NE Veg options

Although Fork and Fig is not a fully vegan or vegetarian restaurant, it does offer some options with their Umami burger, roasted heirloom cauliflower and chopped citrus and wedge salads.  

Vegos, 4003 Carlisle Blvd. NE Veg, GF options

A first in vegan New Mexican cuisine their menu has sopa-fries tossed in cinnamon-sugar, a selection of burritos and specialty dishes such as Chile Rellenos, stuffed sopas and tostadas. 

Vegan Vatos Food Truck, on the go V, Veg, GF options

Vegan Vatos offers barbecue jackfruit carnitas, an impossible burger and fried vegan avocado nubs. The vegan Vatos can be found at events at the ABQ Collective, Rust is Gold and Resource Brewing Co. For more information on where to find the Vegan Vatos next, click here.
